Walking and Cycling Routes at the Waveney River Centre

Cycling

Waveney River Centre is the perfect place to begin, stop at or end a lovely walk in the beautiful southern Broads. A short trip on our pedestrian ferry across the river Waveney brings you into Suffolk, the Angles Way long distance footpath and the edge of Carlton Marshes nature reserve. From here you can follow the footpath along the riverbank to the market town of Beccles (3 hours) or the village of Oulton Broad (45-60 minutes).

If you’d like to see rare birds, animals and other wildlife, Carlton Marshes is the perfect place to visit. Effectively the Broads in miniature, you can enjoy the views and wildlife on a circular walk, which passes through the reserve and Oulton Broad. This takes around 2.5 hours at a moderate walking speed.

After a good walk or bike ride, the Waveney Inn pub at Waveney River Centre is ideally situated to reward yourself with a drink or bite to eat. There’s a wide choice of food, much of which is sourced from local ingredients and an outdoor deck with a great view over the marshes.
