‘Twas a month before Christmas and all through the Broads, Christmas-themed events were enticing in the hordes…

In less than a month, we will hang out stockings from fireplaces, leave out mince pies and sherry! Here are the top events to attend in the National Park to have you jingling all-the-way to the big day.

Father Christmas at Fairhaven

Have yourself a woodland Christmas experience in the winter garden. Take a stroll through our woodland to meet the reindeer and visit Father Christmas tucked away among the trees.

Handel’s Messiah, by candlelight

For those wishing to immerse themselves in the traditional Christmas message, Norwich Cathedral’s rendition of Handel’s Messiah will be a breath-taking experience in the evocative setting of the candlelit cathedral. Check out their website for a variety of carol concerts and events.

Proudly Norfolk Christmas Festival

Elvis, reindeer, fine food and an adult crèche at a new Christmas Festival, promoting the best local food and drink in the county. Santa will arrive in a special vehicle to his grotto, where children can meet him and even book tea with the jolly chap.

Christmas Markets

There are loads of Christmas markets to indulge in during the Christmas season, from Bungay Christmas Street Fair to Norwich Global Village Market. From the Vegan Christmas Market to Stalham Yuletide Market and Norwich Cathedral Christmas Fayre.

Christmas Spectacular Circus & Water Show

This new Norfolk tradition combines the best in International Circus Artistes, the unique water spectacle with Aerialists, Synchronised Swimmers, Giant Fountains and the magic of Christmas with comedian Ben Langley and sensational acrobats with over 50 performers.

Wreath Making & Seasonal Crafts

Fairhaven water garden is hosting a wreath-making workshop. Fall under the spell of evergreens, scarlet berries and gardening twine! NWT Hickling Broad is a wonderful place to be in winter. Draw inspiration from this living landscape and create some unique Christmas decorations from natural materials.

A Wonderful Christmas

There is only one must-watch Christmas movie this year... and that’s the classic tear-jerker  It’s a Wonderful Life, playing at Cinema City.

Oh no it isn’t…

It just wouldn’t be Christmas without jolly dames, women dressed as men and a bucket load of rhetorical questions! Come to Norwich’s Theatre Royal for their glittering rendition of Cinderella.

Whitlingham Christmas Family Fun

Christmas is coming to Whitlingham with a sack full of magical fun and things to do. Make your own natural decorations and join us for winter woodland activities. Father Christmas will be arriving at twilight with an early Christmas present for everyone.

Steam Train to Santa

Trains to Santa departs from Wroxham, travelling to Santa's Grotto, where Santa and his railway sleigh are there to welcome you.

Festive Cruise on the Queen of the Broads

Get into the Christmas spirit aboard the Queen of the Broads for a Festive Cruise! Departing from Wroxham, the crew will give you warming mulled wine and a mince pie. The skipper provides live commentary, explaining the history of the broads and the local wildlife.

Wroxham Barns

For festive fun and time with the man in red, head on down to Wroxham Barns, complete with crafts, an Animal Nativity Barn, Santa’s real reindeer and donkeys.

Victorian Family Christmas at Gressenhall

Turn back the clock and enjoy a traditional festive celebration, with a complimentary glass of mulled wine and mince pie.

Santa Cruise

If you know any children who have made it onto the ‘good’ list this year then treat them to a Santa River Cruise. There will be mince pies, a Christmas quiz and presents from Mr Clause himself!
