Summer’s not over, quite yet… There are still plenty of ways to get outdoors and be inspired by the Broads by taking part in these events. So make sure you take full advantage of the Broads at peak season and the longer days, while they last.

Wherry sailing, Hoveton Great Broad circular – Wroxham

Dyke Dipping

Join us and learn about the wonderful wildlife that can be found in the dykes. The experts will be on hand to help you tell your boatman from your beetle larvae.

Wild Fridays at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen

Join us at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen nature reserve every Friday during the summer holidays. This is a wild event the whole family can enjoy together. We will be exploring our ponds, woodland and meadow with hands on activities to make sure you get up close to the wildlife that lives there.

‘Portrait’ Photography Exhibition

The portraits, lives and stories of local people proud to call the Broads their home will be featured in an exhibition, by artist Julian Claxton, at Great Yarmouth’s Skippings Gallery. The exhibition is part of the Broads Authority’s Water, Mills and Marshes project.

Thurne Mill Open & Working Days

Our Marshman will be at the mill on open days demonstrating how it works and telling you all about the history of this 199-year-old working windpump. Disabled access is not possible in the mill and the staithe is very uneven.

Barton Broad Open Regatta

The Regatta is held each year on August Bank Holiday Monday and follows the two days of the Norfolk Punt Club Open Regatta.

An Evening on the Broads with the Norfolk Jazz Quintet

The ever-popular Norfolk Jazz Quintet return to Broads Tours this year for their evening jazz cruises on the Vintage Broadsman.

Bat Walk - Salhouse Broad with Natural England

Meet the ferry at the Salhouse Broad moorings for a short boat trip across the broad and upriver to Hoveton Great Broad Nature Trail, a tranquil place only accessible by boat. You will explore the trail as darkness falls with the Warden and bat expert, using bat detectors to find, track and identify the bats.

Evening Boat Cruise to St Benet's Abbey

Evening boat cruise along the river Bure to view St Benet's Abbey, returning for a warming hot chocolate in the tearoom. Last Wednesday of every month May to August. Includes garden entry from 10am.

Whitlingham Wednesday: Wild Crafts

Enjoy craft activities using natural materials. Things to make include leaf print badges, mock bark boxes, cordage and more.

East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival

Gable Events bring you the 13th East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival. Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today - as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!
