The Society promotes debate and engagement in all matters relating to the Broads, encouraging public benefit from and enjoyment of their unique features as well as participation in the management of this unique wetland landscape and its navigation. We promote restoration and conservation of heritage buildings and boats, as well as features and sites of ecological and scientific interest.
Safeguarding the Region’s environment is a key target, engaging in projects and supporting, when appropriate, the measures taken by the Broads Authority, Environment Agency and other statutory bodies in this regard.
The Broads Society’s experts are consulted on planning applications and local plans likely to affect the region, and aims to ensure that authorities, councils and utility companies seek to further the interest of the Broads in all that they do.
The navigation is central to the cultural heritage and future environment of the Broads, and the Society encourages boating, walking, cycling and all other outdoor pursuits in the interests of human wellbeing and a lively economy. To encourage activities beneficial to the Broads and, in particular, to enable young people to appreciate the regional opportunities.
