NWT Hickling Broad

Nature reserves & parks

NWT Hickling Broad is the largest Broad and is a year-round haven for wildlife. There are gentle walks under wide skies for the casual visitor or fascinating study for those interested in swallowtail butterflies, bitterns, cranes, marsh harriers and other rare Broadland wildlife. Ideal for bird watching.

During April to October, wildlife boat trips (a charge applies) can be taken; these visit the scrapes at Swim Coots and Rush Hills, which often hold interesting duck, geese, and wading birds. The trips also visit the 60ft-tall Tree Tower, which offers spectacular views across the Broads and nearby coast.
