A trip on a wherry

“There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” The evocative words of Kenneth Grahame live on in our Gift Guide as we don’t think you can go far wrong with the gift of a day out on a traditional Broads wherry. Possible vessels include the Albion, the Hathor and the Maud.

A Broads cuisine hamper

The Broads National Park is awash with gorgeous locally grown and made produce, so why not put together a hamper for the perfect local picnic? A few nommy suggestions from us would include… St Swithins Soft Cheese, Humpty Dumpty Real Ale, Gnaw Chocolate, Garden Preserves, Norfolk Mardler Goat’s Cheese, Crush Rapeseed Oil, Norfolk Pure Apple Juice, Woodfordes Norfolk Ales and Pye Baker of Norwich.

A donation to Operation Turtle Dove

The turtle dove is a traditional symbol of love and constancy, so there are few symbols more Valentine’s Day-worthy. But sadly the turtle dove is on target to be extinct in just 10 years’ time. So why not make a donation in the name of true love and constancy to Operation Turtle Dove? And you could book a future date to see one at Pensthorpe Natural Park!

Some Broads art

Remind yourself of the places you love and the wildlife which lives there with the gift of a beautiful piece of artwork by a Broads artist. Wonderfully talented locals include: Paul Bommer, Kerry Buck, Leanda Jaine, Vanna Bartlett.

Allotment
You can quite literally enjoy the fruits (and vegetables) of your labours!

Your own patch of land

If you’re  local to the Broads area why not look into allotment spaces? There are few things more romantic than sowing seeds and watching them grow together. Plus you’ll be able to enjoy organic Broads produce all year round!

Find an allotment near you: Brundall, Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Neatishead, Broadland District.

A leafy gift

Whichever of the two Broads locations you choose, at Urban Jungle you’re sure to discover a wealth of glorious plants which you’ve never heard of before and now desperately covet! The perfect place to find an unusual leafy Valentine’s Day present.

A sailing lesson

Why not book a ‘learn to sail’ course with Hunters Yard? Spend time on the Broads and give the ultimate gift - being able to sail independently again and again once your sailing course is over.

Cupid’s arrow is fixed firmly in the direction of the Broads National Park this Valentine’s Day, so put down that oversized teddy bear and step away from the box of chocolates (unless they’re made in the Broads!) for a gift that really says ‘I love you’ the Broads National Park is the place to start.
