You don’t have to stray far from the peace and tranquillity of our beautiful waterways to find a range of unique and exciting activities sure to keep even the most thrill-hungry happy.
We’ve picked a few of our favourite days out to get you started.
Visitors are invited into a mystical land populated by brave, adventurous creatures – including Crocklebrogs, Twiggles and Boggles. With parents encouraged to explore alongside their children, a visit to BeWILDwerwood is sure to be enjoyable for adventurers of all ages.
If it’s adrenaline-pumping action you’re after, a trip to the Broads’ largest theme park is a must. Home to Wipeout - the tallest, fastest and most extreme roller coaster in the region - Pleasurewood Hills has been attracting thrill-seekers for over three decades.
If thrills and spills aren’t everybody’s thing, Pleasurewood Hills offers a wide range of attractions – including a Kiddie Zone with rides suitable for smaller visitors, fantastic animal shows and plenty of tempting places to eat and drink. Conveniently located for both the Broads and the coast, there’s no wonder it’s become one of the area’s premier family days out.
Intrepid time travellers should be sure to visit Dinosaur Adventure in Lenwade. As you trek the woodland Dinosaur Trail, you’ll come face-to-face with all of your favourites – including the Stegosaurus, the Triceratops and, of course, the mighty T-Rex!
But Dinosaur Adventure isn’t just about big, scary beasts. The park’s Secret Animal Garden is also home to the smaller, fluffier variety – including pigs, wallabies, tortoises and more. With a range of other attractions available - including an impressive adventure playground and Norfolk’s largest indoor play area (opening 2017) - the Dinosaur Adventure is a pre-historic pleasure for all the family.
With its well-deserved reputation for wildlife, it’s no surprise that the Broads is home to a range of attractions for the nature-loving family. Set in the heart of the national park, Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens offers a chance to get up close and personal with a range of rare and beautiful animals – including tigers, leopards, primates, red pandas, birds and snakes.
As a progressive zoo, Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens also plays a key role in preserving many species under threat due to the destruction of their forest habitat. Educational and inspiring, a visit to Thrigby Hall allows you the valuable opportunity to appreciate the majesty of these rare animals in real life.
The Wind Energy Museum is one of the most unique collections in the UK, showcasing over 200 years of wind power history amongst a peaceful 2.5-acre site. It has something for everyone, with demonstrations ranging from early windmills through to the electric pumps that are used today.
If the wildlife of the Broads wasn’t enough to satisfy your senses, fear not. A day trip to Pettitt’s Animal Adventure Park should probably do the trick. Discover the park’s many activities and rides while spending time with some of the world’s favourite animals. A day out for people of all ages, the park boasts a crazy golf course, adventure playgrounds and its very own driving school.
Buckle up and get ready be amazed by the extraordinary spectacle that is Great Yarmouth’s Hippodrome Circus. Sure to have the whole family on the edge of their seats, you’ll be eagerly awaiting the next act. A stone's throw away from the beach, it’s the perfect end to a family day spent lounging in the sun or building sandcastles.
